Our Minister, Vedat Bilgin, visited seasonal workers and their families on June 12, World Day Against Child Labour.


Vedat Bilgin, Minister of Labor and Social Security, paid a visit to the Seasonal Agricultural Workers Project (METIP) campus with a capacity of approximately 1,000 people, located in Ankara's Polatlı District Sarıoba Neighborhood, as part of the World Day Against Child Labour, on June 12, 2021.

During the visit, UN Resident Coordinator Alvaro Rodriguez, UNICEF Turkey Representative Regina De Dominicis, ILO Turkey Office Director Numan Özcan, EU Delegation to Turkey 1st Undersecretary Angel Gutierrez Hidalgo accompanied our Minister.

Minister Çavuşoğlu, together with his delegation, was approved by our Ministry within the framework of the abolished Prime Ministry Circular No. 2017/6 and themed “Seasonal Agricultural Workers” in order to improve the working and living conditions of seasonal agricultural workers and their families, and to provide on-site public services such as shelter, education and health to workers and their children. He examined the services offered in the Polatlı Sarıoba campus, which was established within the scope of the METİP Project carried out.

Minister Bilgin, in order to draw attention to child labor, to support the global campaign against child labor and to strengthen the growing movement against child labor all over the world, the World Day Against Child Labor was declared by the ILO in 2002, accepted in our country and every year various activities related to the subject were held. He stated that the 12th of June, which was held on June 12, had a significant impact on the determination to eliminate child labour.
