Program to Combat Child Labor in Seasonal Agriculture
Within the framework of the National Program to Combat Child Labor carried out by the General Directorate of Labor of the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, activities are carried out with various institutions and organizations in order to improve the living conditions of seasonal agricultural workers and their families, facilitate access to public services and prevent child labor in seasonal agriculture.
Between 11-14 December 2023, public institutions and organizations and families of seasonal agricultural workers were visited in Adıyaman, Şanlıurfa, Diyarbakır and Mardin provinces. During these visits, information was shared about the activities carried out and the supports provided by the General Directorate of Labor of the Ministry of Labor and Social Security.
Within the scope of this program, the measures taken to improve the working and living conditions of seasonal agricultural workers, to establish effective policies by determining migration maps, and to carry out integrated studies with relevant institutions were conveyed.
In provinces such as Adıyaman, Şanlıurfa, Diyarbakır and Mardin, which provide seasonal agricultural worker migration, activities are carried out to ensure that the children of seasonal agricultural worker families continue to attend school and to ensure that they are not included in the labor market. In this context, families and relevant parties are informed.
In addition, 75 agricultural worker brokers were trained on combating child labor, occupational health and safety, and agricultural labor intermediation regulations, and agricultural worker brokers were certified.
