Biography

He was born in Ankara in 1981. He completed his primary, secondary and high school education in Ankara. He graduated from the Department of International Relations of Hacettepe University in 2004. He holds a master's degree in European Law from Liverpool University (as Jean Monnet Scholar) and in Labour Economics and Industrial Relations from Ankara University.

At the end of 2004, he started to work as EU Assistant Expert at the Ministry of Labour and Social Security. He served in various positions in the Ministry regarding the EU negotiation process between 2004-2007 and management of funds under the IV Component of the EU Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance between 2007-2018.

He has been working at the DG of Foreign Relations and European Union since June 2018 and has been serving as Head of Department for International Organizations as of September 2020.

Çağatay Halat has good command of English. He is married with two children.
