Minister of Labour and Social Security Prof. Dr. Vedat Işıkhan attended the meeting “Session with Businesspersons and Representatives of Non-Governmental Organizations” convened in Mardin, where he paid a visit to hold talks.

In his address, Minister Işıkhan noted that the province was the cradle of numerous civilizations with its history dating from time immemorial and one of the rare cities of the region and country as a bountiful source comprising civilizations, adding that human capital, which would enable the attainment of “Century of Türkiye” objective, is abundantly present within the country’s boundaries. Minister Işıkhan went on to state that Mardin also benefited from the development leap of the country, made over the past 21 years, with an investment of more than 97 billion liras.

“We Provided Employment for 43 Thousand Citizens in Mardin through ISKUR”

Noting that nearly 4 billion liras of these investments consisted of investments concerned with working life, Işıkhan stated that 43 thousand citizens were employed solely through Turkish Employment Agency (ISKUR) in Mardin over the past 21 years and the number of actively insured persons reached 184 thousand by May 2023.

Conveying that 8.806 workplaces benefiting from employment incentives of ISKUR were provided with support amounting to 3.43 billion liras, Minister Işıkhan added that the needs of labour market were identified by province and region through research on labour market along with employment.

Recalling that courses and programs were organised to facilitate finding employment for citizens by ensuring their acquisition of qualifications, Minister Işıkhan continued as follows:

“We support vocational and technical education. Up to the present, we have provided support for 43 thousand citizens in total in Mardin by enabling them to attend vocational training courses, on-the-job training programs and entrepreneurship training programs. Until today, a total of 5.453 citizens have benefited from Programs for Public Good (TYP).”

“This Century Will Be the Century of Labour, Investment, Production, Employment, Growth and Welfare”

Minister Işıkhan stated that Mardin would be better off thanks to new investments, fields of employment and initiatives, and continued as follows: “We will achieve this with your support. Demands and solution suggestions arising from the field itself are providing us with crucial data. When the opportunity presents itself, we endeavour to generate these dialogue platforms. As the Ministry, thanks to such organizations in particular, I also attach paramount importance to these discussion platforms, which we have created with the representatives of our non-governmental organisations, which are the voice of our business world and citizens.   We will hopefully transform this century as the century of labour, investment, production, employment, growth and welfare under the leadership of our President.”

“We Stand with Every Citizen Who Works, Produces and Contributes to the Country’s Economy”

Pointing out that everyone making an honest living, becoming productive and adding value to  the country’s development is backed, without any discrimination among workers, employers, entrepreneurs, investors regardless of their age, Minister Işıkhan noted that every citizen serving, producing for and contributing to the development of the country and economy would be provided with support.
