Social Security Agreements
Social security agreements are agreements concluded in order to protect and secure the social security rights of the citizens and employees of the party countries within the framework of reciprocity principles.
Although the provisions of the agreement vary between countries, social security agreements generally;
- Ensures equal treatment of the persons covered by the agreement in terms of social security rights and obligations.
- Makes it possible to combine the periods of service in the contracting states in order to be entitled to the social security benefits provided for in the legislation of the parties.
- The social security legislation applicable to those temporarily working in the other contracting state, those working on their own behalf and account and who are in the other contracting state, members of diplomatic missions and those in the other contracting state for public service shall be determined, thus preventing double insurance.
- For those who reside in the other Contracting Party while receiving a pension or income, the pension and/or income shall also be paid in the new place of residence.
- In cases such as temporary presence, permanent residence or temporary work in the other country, it is possible for the insured of one contracting party to benefit from health benefits in the other contracting party country.
- Medical check-ups of persons receiving a disability pension and residing in the other party shall be carried out by the social security organization of the place of residence.
